The Bromo Arts and Entertainment District

Bromo Tower Arts & Entertainment, Inc. supports and advances the work of artists and cultural organizations in Downtown Baltimore.

What We Do

The Bromo Arts and Entertainment District creates a better Baltimore by supporting artists and arts organizations in a 117 acre area on the west side of downtown from Baltimore Street up Park Avenue, Howard Street and Eutaw Street to the junction of Read Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

How We Do It

The Bromo seeks to influence development in the district to ensure a sustainable environment where artists and arts organizations can own businesses and homes where they can create and monetize their work by focusing on three key areas.

  1. We mentor individuals and groups to increase their capacity for organizational and professional growth to become the next generation of arts leaders.

  2. We create a cohesive identity for the district by providing promotional support to our constituents.

  3. We influence policies to create vibrant public spaces where the arts and entertainment can flourish.

Who We Work With

We work with artists who live or work in The Bromo District.  We also partner with other organizations in and around Baltimore who can bring resources to our arts and entertainment mission.

We work closely with the Baltimore Development Corporation and private developers to business and home ownership in the district affordable and sustainable for individuals and organizations over the long term.  We also work with The Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts, Visit Baltimore and Live Baltimore on projects that enhance the quality of life for artists and visitors to the district.

A Little Bit More About The Bromo

Located in Downtown Baltimore, the Bromo Tower Arts & Entertainment District was established in 2012 to realize the area’s potential as a thriving downtown arts neighborhood. The Bromo Tower A&E District, anchored to the south by the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower, stretches north to include the historic Lexington Market and up to Antique Row, just blocks away from Mount Vernon. The District builds on a significant collection of existing cultural assets, including large visual and performing arts venues and local artist-run spaces offering a professional, high-caliber of visual artistic production and display, performance art and theatre.

The District is conveniently located in close proximity to the city’s main sports venues, the convention center, Charles Center, the Inner Harbor, the University of Maryland and Mount Vernon. The Bromo District is well-served by several modes of transportation including the light rail, MARC train (regional commuter line), Metro system (subway), MTA local bus lines and the Charm City Circulator (free ridership).
